After studying physics at Imperial I wanted a new challenge, but also to be part of a smaller, more personable company. My interviews with Steve and Peter were pleasantly relaxed – both directors were as interested in my personality as my technical and professional skills. So SFW ticked the boxes and I joined. I was initially nervous about joining SFW without a background in IT.
However the expectations here are high but never unrealistic, and the training SFW provided really helped me get up to speed. Initially I started working with Dynamics CRM but have since moved on to developing web applications in .NET and have worked with some great people in both technological areas. Outside of work, I play football and badminton with other friends here at SFW too, so there’s every opportunity to have a balanced work/leisure lifestyle.
Life at SFW has been wonderful! I’ve been involved in such a variety of tasks - development work for web applications, learning, exploring new things, dealing with support calls and volunteering too. I’ve had the opportunity to work with new technology, such as Kentico CMS, and to gather knowledge from my highly skilled professional colleagues.
When I joined the company’s Baroda team in December 2014 it was to get industrial experience during the last semester of my Master’s degree (MCA). I then received a job offer and I must say that SFW was a great choice for the start of my IT career. The environment here is flexible, transparent, efficiently managed and the social activities and celebrations really make life easy and enjoyable.
Having graduated from the University of Loughborough with a degree in Maths and Computer Science I was ready to make a break into the world of Computing. From my very first day I've enjoyed the atmosphere at SFW, everyone was welcoming and despite not even knowing what SFW stood for, I felt right at home.
Since joining I have been working with Dynamics CRM and have been a part of numerous projects, each of which helping to expand my array of skills within the technology. Sports and social development has always been key, from the Christmas and summer parties, to football and squash, there’s always something to do.
I joined SFW after graduating from the University of Manchester in 2008 with a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. I wanted to work for a small company, as they tend to focus on improving your skills quickly, and in a relaxed environment with a good work-life balance.
I’ve worked on many projects covering a wide range of technologies from desktop to web, learning new skills and taking on responsibilities. I’m now designing and implementing systems, leading a team of multiple developers. We’re using the latest .NET technology stack and working closely with the client following agile methodologies.
